Houston Recovery may take longer than Usual Due to Shortage of Construction Workers

\Houston has experienced one of the heaviest storms in the recent decades, and the pictures of the submerged city are showing the extent of damages. It is yet to confirm the total effects of damages as the storm is continuing.

However, people and administration have started assessing the plans to rebuild the city for an immediate recovery. Sadly, the recovery is not expected to make a usual progress this time due to the lack of sufficient construction workers.

It is identified that the city needs massive cleanup, repair, demolition, and reconstruction of various buildings include individual homes, apartments and other large buildings, and other infrastructure.

The lack of human resources is not easy to replicate this time due to multiple factors. It is already identified that the U.S. cities are facing the shortage of construction workers to assist in disaster recovery.

After the housing bust, most construction workers were laid off as the recovery was slow. Also, most of the construction workers during the boom was actually from Central America and Mexico. Some of them returned to their country, some went back after the new immigration policy implanted, and the rest were deported.
